Kenneth P. Tway, MD, FACC
Dr. Kenneth Tway is a board-certified cardiologist with offices in San Luis Obispo. His clinical practice includes cardiac interventions and management of chronic cardiac conditions including coronary disease, heart failure, and cardiac arrhythmias. He practices interventional cardiology at French Hospital Medical Center and inpatient clinical cardiology at all four hospitals in San Luis Obispo County.
Dr. Tway grew up in Los Angeles in a medical family, as the second of five sons of a prominent pediatrician. Like his brothers, he excelled in swimming, and enjoyed sailing. He received a BS in biology at Stanford University in 1973. He earned his MD at George Washington University Medical School in Washington, D.C. in 1977.
He then trained in internal medicine and cardiology at the University of Southern California and at the Kaiser Permanente Sunset Medical Center in Los Angeles. After those years of training and practice in Southern California, Dr Tway moved his young family to the central coast to start a solo cardiology practice in 1987.
He has since dedicated himself to the pursuit of technical and clinical excellence to provide the best available cardiology care to residents of the Central Coast. When he is not working, Dr. Tway enjoys spending time with his wife, two daughters, and two dogs.
Laura Christina Fundingsland, Physician Assistant
Laura Christina Fundingsland joined our practice in June 2020. Though her first name is Laura, she goes by her middle name Christina. Christina has been a welcome addition to our practice. We are able to see more patients, while still ensuring our patients have low waiting times for their appointments.
Christina is especially interested in the preventative aspects of cardiovascular care, and works with our patients to change life style factors that can help them best manage or prevent heart disease.
In 2013, she graduated from UC Riverside with a double major in biology and neuroscience. She completed her Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies at Harding University in 2018 and began working as a PA shortly after.
Christina grew up an hour south of San Luis Obispo in Lompoc. She met her husband, David, in high school, and after getting reacquainted a few years later, they were married in 2015.
Christina and David are currently living in Cambria with their two pups, Koda and Marley, although Koda and Marley are more like their kids than their dogs! In her spare time, Christina enjoys spending time with David, Koda and Marley, and their family. She is an avid runner and gets in a few miles almost every morning before work.
Patients are already raving about how much they enjoy seeing Christina. If you haven’t met her yet, make sure to request seeing her at your next appointment—you won’t be disappointed!
